Varicose Veins: Diagnosis and Treatment Part 4: Thermal Ablation

Endovenous Thermal Ablation This procedure treats a long segment of refluxed vein. In this procedure, a long tube is inserted into the vein, and laser or radio frequency energy is applied to the numbed leg to correct the reflux. Conveniently, this two hour procedure can be done in-office. Relaxation and anti-inflammatory medications are give before draping the leg in a sterile cloth. A catheter is inserted to cover the wire that receives the energy to make it more comfortable. The heat from the ablation device thermally injures the lining of the diseased vein, and the vein closes permanently. After treatment, steristrips cover the insertion point, while a compression stocking keeps your leg healing properly for 48 hours. The compression stocking must be worn until the 7-day follow up. You can resume most daily activities immediately. It is normal to feel some pain during the procedure and see bruising along the entire treatment area, which can last for up to two weeks. Acetaminophen and ibuprofen will help you deal with the pain. While uncommon, some risks associated with Thermal Ablation include: Infection, bleeding, deep and superficial thrombosis, numbness, blistering, or skin discoloration. Risks are minimized and managed by using a sterile environment. DVT and numbness usually goes away in up to six months. In a very small amount of cases, numbness in the calf can be permanent.

CrackOChem_OChem Basics II - pt 2

This video picks up right where the Organic Chemistry Basics Part I video leaves off. We will finish learning the fundamentals of organic chemistry to give you a solid foundation for the rest of the course. Here we talk about VSEPR Theory and the 2 Main Bonding Theories (molecular orbital theory and orbital hybridization theory). Enjoy! Watch the entire video for free at… www.crackochem.com— Let CrackOChem be your personal Organic Chemistry video tutor. Each video lesson provides an easy, yet comprehensive approach made from the student perspective. We assume you have no prior knowledge in the field, and will guide you every step of the way. ——————————————————————————- About The Tutor Garrett is a Harvard graduate. While earning his doctorate from the Harvard School Of Dental Medicine, he was hired by the university to propose and develop educational videos to complement the curriculum. During this time he worked with instructors at the medical and dental school to produce video tutorials in the areas of neurobiology, cardiology, pharmacology, radiology and pre-clinical dental laboratory. However, Garrett’s love for tutoring and helping students be able to understand complex subjects in a simple manner began with organic chemistry. He was initially told by his family, friends and instructors that organic chemistry would be the worst class he would ever take in college. Fortunately, with a lot of sweat, a few tears

In memory of Sgt. Ryan P Baumann

*To see this video in a better quality, please add &fmt=18 to the end of the url.* A memorial video I did for Sgt. Ryan P Baumann of the US Army. I’ll probably do a better video after his funeral on Monday. A special thank you is extended to John Douglass and Justin Merriman for the use of their pictures. Sgt. Ryan P. Baumann, 24 of Great Mills, died Friday, Aug. 1, of injuries sustained when an improvised explosive device struck his vehicle in Afghanistan. Several weeks earlier, Sgt. Baumann’s convoy had been the victim of a similar attack, which he survived with only a minor concussion. Unfortunately, while returning to the forward operating base early Friday morning, Sgt. Baumann’s side of the vehicle took the brunt of the attack and he did not survive. Sgt. Baumann was assigned to the 4th Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division in Ft. Campbell, KY. Sgt. Baumann had previously served a tour in Iraq and was four months into his tour in Afghanistan. Sgt. Baumann was to wed fiancé, Lauren Smith, on Saturday, Jan. 10, 2009. Smith lives just south of St. Mary’s City with her family. She is attending college to be a radiology technician. Her father, Jeff Smith, is the V-22 Training Continuum Integration Lead at the Pax River Naval Air Station. The V-22 Training Team would like to ask for your thoughts and prayers for the families of Sgt Ryan Baumann, United States Army, and Jeff Smith, United States Marine Corps (retired
